Atlético Baleares was very close to Segunda División A
Atlético Baleares beat Mirandés 3-1 but were one step away from the promotion to Second Division A for their defeat in the first leg (2-0) and the double value of the goals scored away. Manix Mandiola players started the game losing but a spectacular reaction in the second half was about to turn the tie. An “indirect free” foul inside the area in the 94th minute was able to give the ATB promotion but Mirandés goalkeeper saved his team with a great intervention. Nuha (2), and Marcos de la Espada scored local goals.
ATB coach, Manix Mandiola, admitted at the end of the game that not to promote “is a stick but we must be proud of a team that aspires to everything and rubs shoulders with the best”. He also added that “we could score the fourth goal that would have given us the promotion, but unfortunately we did not achieve it”. Finally he spoke of his contract: “I have one more year of contract and I would like to continue”.
With this match, ATB has finished a great season. The team was the champion of the third group and had been very close to promotion to Second Division A.
